Council on Aging of West Florida is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that has served seniors and their families since 1972. Council on Aging of West Florida helps seniors in Escambia and Santa Rosa County live healthy, safe and independent lives in their own familiar surroundings by providing community based in-home programs and services such as Meals on Wheels and Alzheimer's respite care. In addition, noontime meals are also served at numerous congregate meal sites in the two-county area. These sites also serve as hubs of social activities, especially in the rural area.
Council on Aging of West Florida also provides quality, supervised daytime care at its Adult Day Health Care Center, located at 875 Royce Street in Pensacola. The center is the only licensed adult day health care center (Agency for Health Care Administration license #9051) in the area catering to adults with physical and cognitive impairments. The staff to client ration is 1:6 and staff receives on-going training in areas such as Alzheimer?s disease and other forms of dementia. Stimulating therapeutic activities and field trips are all part of a full day of socialization and care.
Other programs and services of Council on Aging of West Florida include the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs, The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. These programs allow active seniors to share their skills and talents with school children, less mobile peers and other not-for-profit organizations.
